Commonwealth shared scholarships
London South Bank University (LSBU) is pleased to confirm that a Commonwealth Shared Scholarship will be available for the 2012/13 academic session. Our participation in the scheme is made possible by the generous support of the Nathu Puri Foundation, which has sponsored students to take part in the programme.
Commonwealth Shared Scholarhips
Students from participating commonwealth countries can benefit from our scholarships.
Applicants are required to fulfil the following criteria:
- hold a current offer for one of the following full-time postgraduate courses for the academic year 2012/2013: MSc Development Studies; MSc Civil Engineering & Structural Design; MSc Health Services & Hospital Management; LLM Law programmes; MSc Planning Buildings for Health; MSc Sustainable Energy Systems.
- are classed as overseas for fee paying purposes
- are a national of an eligible Commonwealth country, holds exceptional qualifications and who would otherwise be unable to afford to study in the UK
Please note that applicants must not be currently living or studying in a developed country. Applicants should not have previously studied for one year or more in a developed country. The recipient of a Commonwealth Shared Scholarship should also be willing to confirm that they will return to their home country as soon as their period of study in complete.

Nationality scholarships
We are delighted to announce a new programme of Nationality Scholarships. LSBU values the academic and cultural diversity that international students bring to the University and is offering scholarships of £1,000 to overseas fee paying nationals from a range of countries.
Nationality ScholarshipsWith our Nationality Scholarships students can get £1,000 paid towards their fees.
Eligible countries
To be eligible for the Nationality Scholarship students must hold a valid offer of a place at LSBU for a full time degree programme commencing in September 2012 or January 2013. The programme of study must be at least one year in duration with a tuition fee of £7,500 or more. The award will be issued as a reduction in tuition fees on registration. Students in receipt of the Nationality Scholarship will also be eligible to claim the 5% Early Payment Discount if overseas Tuition Fees are paid in full by the early payment deadline.
Students in receipt of a Nationality Scholarship may also be eligible for the LSBU Graduate Loyalty Scheme if they have previously graduated from an LSBU degree course. This scholarship can be combined with the 10% Graduate Loyalty Scheme but not with the 25% Graduate Loyalty Scheme.

Undergraduate scholarships and bursaries
National Scholarship Programme
For undergraduate students joining us in 2012/13 we have created the London South Bank University (LSBU) National Scholarship Programme. Through the scheme we offer a large number of full and partial fee waivers and approximately half of these will be allocated to students from partner schools and colleges in the local community.

Sir John Cass's Foundation Lord Mayor's Scholarship Programme
Our full-time undergraduate students can apply for scholarships funded jointly by Sir John Cass's Foundation and the Lord Mayor's Office in the City of London. They are offered to our Food and Bioscience, Forensic Science and Sport Science students starting a course at LSBU in September 2012. The awards are valued at £7,000 a year.

Sports Scholarships
The Elite Sports Programme is run by the Academy of Sport at LSBU to support talented sportsmen and women balance their sporting, academic and personal lives. Members of the Elite Sports Programme receive financial support and other benefits. Find out more about the Elite Sports Programme.
Lawrence Burrows Scholarship
LSBU full-time undergraduate students from a West Indian or Asian background can apply for the Lawrence Burrows Scholarship. The Lawrence Burrow Educational Trust was established in 1995. It has six trustees, most of whom were personally connected with Mr Burrows. They are dedicated to fulfilling his wish to benefit a wide range of young people.

Sylvana Chiappa Bursary
Five bursaries, of £4,300, have been created for full-time UK and EU students in memory of Sylvana Chiappa, a valued housing professional and alumna of LSBU's BA (Hons) Housing Studies. Bursaries have been created for five women from black and ethnic minority backgrounds, preferably living or working in social housing, who join our BA (Hons) Housing Studies.

Care Leavers' Bursary
LSBU has the Buttle UK Quality Mark which recognises institutions that go the extra mile to support students from public care. For October 2012, Care Leavers under 24 who start a full-time undergraduate course will receive a bursary of £750 and up to £1,000 travel allowance at the start of each academic year for three years. Postgraduate scholarships and bursaries
LSBU Graduate Loyalty Scheme
As part of our commitment to supporting our students' future career success we offer postgraduate Tuition Fee discounts for LSBU undergraduates progressing directly onto a postgraduate course and alumni who have graduated within the past five years. From September 2012 there will be two types of discounts available to eligible undergraduates/alumni.

Vice Chancellor's Scholarships
Postgraduate students joining LSBU can apply for our new Vice Chancellor's Scholarship programme. Each year up to 12 UK, EU or International students could receive a fee waiver up to £4,000 for their full Masters level or Research degree.

From donations received by the Annual Fund from past student and entrepreneur Frank Brake, the University has up to 4 scholarships offering a fee waiver worth £4,000 for UK, EU or International students on LSBU's MSc Enterprise and MSc Food Safety & Control courses.

From donations received by LSBU from alumnus Stuart A Johnson, the University has one scholarship offering a fee discount worth £4,000 for a full-time or part-time UK or EU student on the following LSBU's programmes: MSc Building Surveying, MSc Construction Project Management or MSc Quantity Surveying.

New London Graduate School AHRC Masters Studentships
The New London Graduate School (NLGS) is pleased to announce that 11 studentships are available for a wide range of Arts and Humanities Masters Programmes at London South Bank University, the University of East London, the University of Greenwich and Middlesex University for 2012/13 entry (September 2012 or January 2013 start).
Full awards (fee-waiver & maintenance) and fee-waiver only awards are available for students wishing to study either full time or part time, and will be awarded on the basis of merit and potential.

The closing date for applications is Monday 30 April 2012.
Esmond Robinson Scholarship
This scholarship is funded by Helen Prenn in memory of her son Esmond Robinson. It funds a place on LSBU's highly regarded MSc in Addiction Psychology & Counselling. Ms Prenn explains, "Having had a drug problem in his early life, Esmond devoted the last drug-free part of his life to helping addicts free themselves from their habits and stay drug free. I want this scholarship and future ones to enable Esmond's work to continue. This scholarship provides an opportunity for students accepted onto the course but who can't afford to fund it themselves."
We offer a fee discount worth £4,500 spread proportionally across three years in relation to the level of fees charged. One scholarship will be awarded this year and the deadline for applying is Thursday 31 May 2012. (Details for 2013 entry will appear later this year.)
